Clasado sponsors trio of free immune health webinars
Clasado Biosciences, a global leader in the development of clinically proven prebiotic ingredient and product solutions for the human gut microbiome, has teamed up with global probiotic beverage manufacturer, Yakult, to sponsor a three-part webinar series to boost collective knowledge on gut health and its relationship with the immune system.
Hosted on health and nutrition learning platform Nutrilicious, the webinars cover several key topics of discussion in today’s gut and immune health landscape with clear learning outcomes, presented by Dr Caroline Childs. Dr Childs is a Registered Nutritionist and Lecturer at the University of Southampton, leading research on the effect of nutrition upon the immune system. Delegates can register for free attendance to the series on MyNutriWeb, the online Nutrilicious portal.
The first webinar, sponsored by Yakult, took place on 13th May and connected aspects of macro and micronutrient demand with immune response. The webinar identified how immune function might be best studied in human trials and will provide delegates with the tools to recognise the hierarchy of evidence when reviewing studies on nutrients and immune function.
The second, hosted 20th May, sponsored by Clasado, provides a deep dive into immune function throughout a single lifespan, including how it develops in early years and declines with age. The webinar will enable delegates to consider the context and intervention window when assessing scientific evidence.
The third part of the series, co-sponsored by Clasado and Yakult, takes place on 27th May. This session will develop a clearer understanding of the role of prebiotics, probiotics and synbiotics, as well as the mechanisms by which changes in the gut microbiome might affect immune health.
Melanie Bulger, Head of Nutrition and Regulatory Affairs at Clasado, commented: “We are delighted to co-sponsor this webinar series with Nutrilicious. As we progress through the ongoing pandemic, both the public and healthcare professionals are taking a closer look at how best to support immune health, and one way to bolster knowledge is understanding the significant role the gut plays.
“Around 70% of the body’s immune cells reside in the gut, which means understanding the complex interplay between the microbiome and the immune system may help guide Public Health advice on using nutrition to maintain immunity.”
