Blue Diamond Debuts Almond Protein Powder at IFT 2018
New product launches the company into functional ingredients
CHICAGO (July 15, 2018) – Blue Diamond Almonds Global Ingredients Division, the world’s foremost almond processor and supplier, today announced the launch of its Almond Protein Powder. The new powder represents Blue Diamond’s first foray into functional ingredients and continues an impressive record of innovation and recent new product introductions.
Blue Diamond Protein Powder can serve as an essential component of a protein ingredient blend. It is an excellent source of fiber, magnesium, phosphorous, manganese and copper, and a good source of potassium and calcium. Because it is non-GMO, gluten-free, dairy-free and soy-free, it allows manufacturers more versatility in formulating healthy, “free-from,” protein-rich foods.
“This is an important step in adding functional ingredients to our product offerings,” said Bill Morecraft, Senior Vice President for Blue Diamond Almonds Global Ingredients Division. “Maximizing the superfood potential of almonds in a powder allows manufacturers to capitalize on the latest consumer trends and formulate high-protein, all-natural, plant-based foods and beverages.”
Blue Diamond Almond Protein Powder has a fine texture, smooth mouthfeel and a neutral flavor, making it ideal for protein smoothies, shakes and bars. Unlike other protein sources, formulators need not deal with masking agents to neutralize unwanted taste and flavors. In fact, inclusion of Blue Diamond Almond Protein Powder as a part of a protein blend can assist with masking unwanted flavors resulting from other protein sources.
“Almond protein powder fills a genuine need for a better tasting and more natural protein source,” adds Morecraft. “We’re excited to continue our record of innovation and be among the first to introduce an almond product for the protein category.”
