Collagen Peptitdes… a key to living healthier longer
The face of society all over the world is changing. While the average age of people living in Europe was around 39 years in 2005, it is predicted to have increased to 47 by 2050. Just a few years ago, only 16 per cent of Europeans were over the age of 65. By 2050, this number will have increased to 28 per cent. Even in Africa and less developed regions of Asia and Latin America, the population is ageing due to improvements in areas such as public health, hygiene, workplace safety, nutrition and medicine.
Without a doubt, the ever-expanding number of elderly people makes the health concerns of an ageing population a growing issue. Life expectancy will reach 82 years on average in Europe by 2050. However, there is a difference of several years across all regions between overall life expectancy and healthy life expectancy. Closing this gap is a task that provides various opportunities for manufacturers of foods, beverages and nutritional supplements.
